Can I sue someone for trying to damage my business? I have email evidence.?
I am being sued for loss of earnings by a self employed contractor whose services were terminated when I found out he was trying to take employees to a rival company. I have email evidence which strongly indicates he is suing to remove me as competition. Can I now sue him for trying to damage my business?

- Yes, it's slander, if the e-mails were to you, it could also be harassment.
- yes. but act on it fast!
- Liable maybe, or something to that effect, I'm sure being sued by him is traumatic to say the least. You could counter sue, but a judge would likely not award much, no where near what a jury would. There also may be deformation of character, since his suing you is his saying you don't pay your bills, and you treat employees unfairly. Talk to a lawyer.
- You can sue anybody for anything that you want. Its just that nothing might come of it. I don't see a real case against you but I do think you have a case against him. I think you might be able to win against him.
- The nature of business is sometimes dog-eat-dog and the competition can make you stronger or kill you. Don't waste time on lawsuits...just get even! Stay nice to your employees and give them a reason not to leave your place of business. Then the other guy is wasting his time and you are making money. Good luck!
- NO YOU CANT SUCESSFULLY SUE EACHOTHER, PARTICULARLY AS HE WAS A SELF EMPLYED CONTRACTER, THAT MAKES ALL THE DIFFERENCE.
