Is there an 'off the beaten track' free email service?

I want a free email service like Yahoo! or Hotmail, but I don't want it to be a well-known or popular email site. I want it to have POP3/SMPT access, too. Please help - thanks.

1. I've used http://www.mail.com for over a decade and love it. It's not very well known, it is free, and has POP3/SMTP access. Take care and good luck!
2. I personally switch to BigString.com no to long ago. They offer recallable, erasable, trackable, self destructing email. They just began video email as well. They offer pop3 with their premium accounts and has 2gb of storage. I didnt want my emails out there forever. If you feel the same give them a shot.
3. I'd go for Gmail if I were you. It's awesome. I'm pretty sure you can go to Gmail.com to sign up but if you need an invite, hit me up on AIM(sadnif)
